Natalie helps equine businesses and private horse owners get the information they need, when they need it. A successful trial attorney (tort lawyer) for twenty years, Natalie is dedicated to making the legal process more understandable and less stressful for her clients.
As a horse-owner and life long equestrian, Natalie speaks "horse" and has a "leg up" understanding the challenges equestrians can face in an increasingly litigious world. Natalie is a quick study and will work hard to identify your legal needs and achieve your desired result.
If you have a legal issue involving horses or a horse-related business, contact attorney Natalie Collins today and see if she is the right animal/equine lawyer to help you.
My practice serves people who enjoy horses as family members and people who make a living in the horse industry. As an equine lawyer, I consult on horse-related activities and the laws concerning them. By way of example, my services include:
* Drafting, reviewing or negotiating equine-related contracts such as liability waivers/releases; purchase contracts; training agreements, leasing or horse sharing contracts; boarding contracts, trailering releases, or syndicate/partnership/fractional ownership agreements.
* Identifying potential liabilities arising out of equine activities and proposing ways private horse owners or equine businesses can minimize or mitigate those risks. This could include forming an entity through the Arizona Corporation Commission, consulting on insurance coverages and/or identifying gaps in coverage, designing risk management policies and procedures, etc.
* Representing horse owners or horse-related businesses in disputes involving alleged negligence, breach of contract, or coverage disputes with insurance carriers.
Prior to law school, Natalie attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, on an academic scholarship. In 1992, Natalie graduated from McGill with First Class Honors with a Bachelor of Arts in physiological psychology (neuroscience). Following her graduation, Natalie continued working at McGill in neuroscience.
In 1993, Natalie moved from Canada to the United States and spent several years doing scientific research and working in New York City. She developed an interest in medical-legal issues and decided to pursue a career in law.
Natalie started her legal career at a large and prestigious defense firm in Arizona. Among other things, she worked to defend physicians, dentists, and manufacturers of medical devices against claims of negligence. Struck by some of the tragic wrongs suffered by patients, Natalie began working for plaintiffs as well.
In 2006, Natalie and Chris founded the law firm of Bode & Collins, P.L.C. From 2006-2019 Natalie devoted the majority of her professional time to representing people who have been injured or lost a loved one because of negligence. She obtained multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements for her clients in negligence and product liability cases.
Natalie is an avid equestrian. She has competed as an amateur rider in many disciplines including mounted games, three day eventing, dressage, and jumping. In October, 2020 she formed The Law Office of Natalie Collins to pursue her interest in animal law. Natalie focuses her practice on equine law.
